It’s been 5 years since I started working on my PhD… It was January 2009 when the first experiment took place in Alcala de Henares, Spain, during an Organic.Edunet project meeting, in sala 3M. Five years later, on February 21st, 2014 I was called upon to defend my work during these five years as a total. My Thesis, titled “Metadata Quality Issues in Learning Repositories” is more than its title states. It dealt with metadata quality in the learning, cultural and research domain, introducing a well-defined process of enriching metadata and enhancing their quality. This process was applied in three cases of repository federations and proved to have significant impact on the quality of metadata with a reasonable and comparable cost.
That’s my PhD in a nutshell! Some additional information can be found in the links below as well as by contacting me at palavitsinis[at]gmail[dot]com.
